Enhance Energy Begins Construction of Origins CCS Hub in Canada Following Engineering Milestone

Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. has finished its detailed engineering scope for Enhance Energy Inc.'s Origins Carbon Capture and Storage Hub near Clive, Alberta, with construction of the sequestration project now underway and service expected in early 2027.

The Calgary-based firm announced the completion on Oct. 8, 2026, describing it as an important step for the Origins development as it advances toward operation.

Engineering Covered Pipeline, Facilities, and Safety Systems

GLE's engineering work spanned the Origins CO₂ pipeline and the associated facilities that connect existing transportation infrastructure to Enhance Energy's new Origins CO₂ sequestration hub.

According to the announcement, the scope incorporated pipeline hydraulics, process and mechanical design, civil and structural engineering, electrical and instrumentation systems, controls and telecommunications, pipeline integrity, safety systems, and construction requirements.

Construction of the Origins hub is now moving forward, with the project slated to enter service in early 2027.

GLE Points to Long Record in Alberta Carbon Infrastructure

Stuart MacKenzie, President and CEO of Gas Liquids Engineering, framed the completion as a significant moment for both the project and the company. "This is an important milestone for both CCS in Alberta and GLE, and we are proud to see Enhance's Origins project move into construction," he said.

"GLE has been involved in the development of carbon capture, transportation, and sequestration infrastructure in Alberta for many years, and their project represents another significant step in the growth of that industry. We are pleased to continue our work with Enhance Energy on infrastructure that builds on Alberta's existing carbon capture network." The Origins announcement was issued via PR Newswire from Calgary, Alberta.

Origins Joins GLE's Recent Project Portfolio

The Origins engineering work adds to a recent slate of project completions for GLE, which includes the detailed engineering Issued for Construction (IFC) scope for TAQA North's Ferrier Gas Plant and the Issued for Construction scope for the Ridley Island Energy Export Facility.
